Every Band Ever

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

Every Band Ever (“we”, “the site”) is a personalised band-merch discovery service. We link you to official artist and label stores; you check out at the retailer, never with us.

What we collect, and why

  • Account email — only if you create an account, to send you a magic sign-in link and to keep your profile. No passwords are stored (magic-link sign-in).
  • Your music taste data, only what you choose to give us:
    • Artists you pick yourself in the artist picker.
    • A public playlist link you paste in.
    • A ListenBrainz username you connect.
    • A Spotify data export file you upload. That file is parsed on our server to derive an artist/track summary — we store the summary, not your file. We never ask for, and cannot accept, your Spotify password.
    • Services labelled “connects at launch” collect nothing until they actually launch.
  • Derived taste profile — artist weights/rankings computed from the data above. This is what personalises Discover, your genre page and ordering. It is a ranking, not a saleable profile, and we do not sell it.
  • Saved list and browsing in the store — items you save, and in-store views/saves used to keep Discover fresh and to compute “Most saved recently” for Trending. Guest (not signed-in) profiles are held locally/temporarily and merge into your account if you later sign in.
  • Basic technical data — privacy-respecting analytics and error logs needed to keep the site running and measure the beta (signups, import completion, click-outs). No cross-site advertising trackers at beta.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not take payment from you, hold a basket, or see your retailer checkout, card details or delivery address — checkout happens entirely at the retailer.
  • We do not claim a live connection to a music service that isn't actually connected.

Retailer links

When you click through to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy and terms apply to anything you do there. Some outbound links may in future be affiliate links (see our Affiliate Disclosure); that does not change the price you pay.

Retention and your choices

  • You can delete your account and taste profile on request via hello@everybandever.com; deletion removes your email, imports, derived weights and Saved list from our active systems.
  • Guest profiles that never become accounts are not retained as identifiable profiles.
  • We keep data only as long as your account is active or as needed to run the service, except where a longer period is required by law.

Where this applies

The service is operated from Canada. Because beta users may be in the UK/EU, this policy is written to UK GDPR basics: lawful basis is your consent / performance of the service you asked for; you have rights to access, correct, export and delete your data, and to complain to your local regulator.

Changes

If the data practices change materially (e.g. a new music-service connection goes live), this page will be updated before or at that launch, and the date above will change.
