Damion - I'm Gonna Lose Control

About this item

Damion, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and studio engineer based in Bloomington, Indiana, returns with I’m Gonna Lose Control, a cinematic and captivating follow-up to his 2022 debut Special Interest. His new album takes a deeper dive into Damion’s signature vintage pop/rock sound, resulting in a record that feels like a genuine artifact from the past. Like an unaired episode of Midnight Special pulled from the vault, I’m Gonna Lose Control doesn’t just echo the ‘70s; it transports you to a lost era, effortlessly conjuring a world of groovy, shag-carpet charm. Drawing inspiration from legends like Wings, Laura Nyro, and Harry Nilsson, Damion blends addictive melodies with alluring lyrics, creating a listening experience that is both hauntingly familiar and refreshingly new. I'm Gonna Lose Control evokes the warm, comforting ambiance of a forgotten sitcom, beaming into your living room, complete with a stellar cast of Bloomington's favorite musicians. An irresistible rhythm section, accompanied by Wurlitzer, big swelling strings, fuzzy guitars, saxophones and synths create a perfect soundtrack for cruising or roller skating under a slowly spinning disco ball. Akin to watching a long-forgotten cult film, I’m Gonna Lose Control stirs up faint memories of a time you never lived through—of a world that never quite existed... until now.
