About this item

Release Date: 4/12/24NYC-based rockers, Dog Date, have announced their full-length, Zinger, due out April 12th from the always impeccable Pop Wig Records. The album is a 26 minute blast distortion and hooks that's sure to please fans of all things loud, fast, and a little left of the dial. Dog Date have been making a name for themselves with their scrappy, fuzzed-punk, and pummeling live show powered by a unique dual drummer attack. On Zinger, the five-piece have bottled the controlled chaos of their performances for all to experience. The record's lead single "Nuff Said" is a rip-roaring introduction, bringing to mind classics like The Wipers, or Mudhoney--the kinds of primally appealing bands that draw on punk, hardcore, garage, and straight up unhinged rock & roll in equal measure. Originally started as the at-home recording project of vocalist/guitarist Dylan Kennedy, Dog Date has evolved into a full-fledged force to be reckoned with. Zinger follows the grou's 2021 debut LP, Child's Play, and finds the band's recently fleshed out live lineup--bassist Andy Stoffo, guitarist Malcolm Spraggs Hoyt, and drummers(!) Leo Didkovsky and Kristian Pitaccio--making their first recorded appearance. Recorded by Matt Labozza and Morgan Miller, the album imagines an almost proto-punk version of the Smashing Pumpkins, with dimed-out Big Muffs blasting over speedy, spiky, primitive songs.
